iPod musings
Nov. 25th, 2008 10:43 amFor those who check in my 101 things in 1001 days blog know, I am hoping to get 50% of my iPod songs ranked in my 1001 days (end is fall 2010). Currently I am nearing 25%, but progress is slow as I do not get as much music time as I used to. Currently, I am in a music focused time and so I am plugging away. Something I noticed last night as I was sorting through my songs, I have almost 150 songs/entries that are less than a minute long. That seemed like an area ripe for quick and easy rankings and also purging - so I set up a playlist and started in on it this morning.
And yes, I wrote purging. Part of the project of ranking is to force me to listen to the vast amount of songs I added in a short period (I got probably 200 CDs in LALA trades at the same time I was downloading 40-50 songs/month on emusic) - there are 1000s of songs I have never even listeed to. As I go through the exercise of ranking, I also purge quite a few, probably about 1/4. So my total workload to meet my goal gets smaller in two ways as I plug away.
It's an interesting project, mostly enjoyable - and it gets me thinking of a million different playlists I'd like to set up. Another project for another day.
